RYS is highly encouraging all coach volunteers to participate in the NSCAA Level III training course. The $85 training fee will be reimbursed 100% by RYS to our coaches. No prior experience or licensing is required. Simply sign up and pay for the course up front. Complete the course, get your certificate in the mail, and then register with RYS in the fall as a coach. Once you’re registered as a volunteer, contact Shawn Hickey at hickey4@charter.net for full reimbursement. Shawn will coordinate reimbursement for you. It's that simple!

Our goal is to get 95% of our coaches through this training program. Please don't delay, register TODAY!

Course Description: (1 Day - 9 hour training program) This Diploma is a valuable and necessary one for many coaches. The material in this course is designed to assist the coach who has been asked to step up for the first time to coach a team in competition. The course is, in part, conducted in the classroom covering the role of the coach, methodology and player development. The field portions of the course cover a variety of helpful training ideas primarily designed to improve technical ability. The field work also shows coaches a variety of small sided games to use and features a sample session conducted by the instructor.

Participants should wear comfortable clothes and sneakers for the practical part of the training.

Field Set Up & Put Away:

Coaches – Please review the Field Set up schedule. This will show which team is responsible to set the field up for the weekend and which team is to put the equipment away.

Basically, when you set the field up you go into the shed, take out 4 corner flags, and put them on the field. You should also make a First Aid kit available at mid-field for both teams to access. Some of the field have collapsible benches. You can set those up for BOTH teams.  The last team on the field just needs to put everything back in the shed.

Challenger Way Coaching Tool - Rutland Youth Soccer has partnered with Challenger Sports for both player and coach development. Coaches are encouraged to access the Challenger Way curriculum, drills, and practice information to increase player development and success at every practice session.

TheChallengerWay is a complete soccer resource providing a comprehensive collection of video, pdf and on screen information for just about every part of the game. There are hundreds of practices for you to review, print out and use in your next coaching session and new content is being added every month.
